Albino
Python regius
The amelanic form is probably always the best known variant of any species. It's a simple recessive mutation, quite common even in Europe already. It's most often bred separately, but some experienced breeders are trying to merge albinism with other forms as well. The favourite high contrasts are selected lines, with a typical rich yellow or even orange colour and a bright white background. Lavender, Bana, T+ and other “albinos” are independent forms and are inherited separately. Just to understand the high prices of the double, triple and other forms, try and imagine creating a Piebald Albino (two recessive forms). You buy young ones, that will be ready to mate in about 2-3 years. In the first generation, you get naturally coloured snakes, fissionable to both forms. You wait 2-3 years again till mating age and by cross-breeding them, the requested Piebald Albino appears with the chance 1 in 16. With the normal amount of eggs (5-9) you have to wait several hatches before you get lucky. That is just an information for people, who think that hight prices of these animals make the breeding business a gold mine for the breeders. We are breeding several Albinos and fissionable animals, including the high contrast forms. In the year 2007 we expect production of young Albinos and heteros. PHOTOGALLERY Albino Python regius
